Zawsze zadaję to pytanie – skąd Pan pochodzi, z jakiego regionu? Czy dyplomacja była zawsze Pana wymarzonym zawodem? Pochodzę z małego miasta w Belgii – z Buggenhout. Znajduje  się ono we Flandrii, w trójkącie tworzonym przez Brukselę, Gandawę i Antwerpię. W Belgii wspaniałe jest to, że jest nie duża, dzięki czemu podróż w dowolnym kierunku z centrum 
kraju nie zajmuje nigdy więcej niż dwie godziny samochodem  czy transportem publicznym. Mieszkałem również w Antwerpii, Leuven, Brukseli i Tervuren, nieopodal belgijskiej stolicy. Studiowałem literaturę i lingwistykę niderlandzką oraz angielską, więc dyplomacja nie była dla mnie oczywistym wyborem.

With the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Warsaw, who’s also accredited in the Republic of Lithuania, mr. RiK VAn DRoogenBRoecK, we’ve talked about the very intriguing and interesting work in diplomacy. I always ask this question – where do you come from, what region? And was diplomacy always your dream-job? I come from a small town in Belgium, called Buggenhout.  It is situated in the region of Flanders, in the triangle formed  by the cities of Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp.  The good thing 
about Belgium is that it is small, so from the centre of the country, it never takes more than two hours to reach your destination by car or public transport.  I have also lived in 
Antwerp, Leuven, Brussels and Tervuren, near the Belgian capital.
